Please find attached a track scheme of the Underground and the Rapid Train System, as well as two city maps of the eastern part in Munich with different details, to allow an orientation where we are located. All approaches specified below take about 45-60 minutes from airport to come to the Institute.
Arriving by plane - coming from Airport Munich (Franz-Josef-Strauss) - takes
about 45-60 minutes from airport to come to the Institute
After arrival at the airport take the rapid train S8 (not the S1!) in the
basement of the airport with the directions Central station/Hauptbahnhof to
final destinations Pasing/ Nannhofen - via "Ostbahnhof". Cancel only
8 stripes of the (10 section) ticket which you have to buy at the ticket machine
at ground floor of the airport (the fare is about € 10,--).
Leave the train at the railway station "Ostbahnhof". Take the Underground
U5 to station Quiddestrasse and continue two stops with the bus line 197 to
Peschelanger or take a taxi from the railway station "Ostbahnhof"
to come to the Institute (located in a brown, metal-coated office building at
Peschelanger 3) - directly at the corner Karl-Marx-Ring and Peschelanger).
Arriving by train - coming from Central Station ("Hauptbahnhof")
- about 20-25 minutes to HPR.
Arriving by car - using the Highways A9 (from the North), A7 (from the West)
or A8 (from the South-East):
Pick up the so-called Eastern tangent (the Highway A99 direction ICM = International
Exhibition Centre) - driving around the city, and use the Exits 18 from Haar
or 19 from Hohenbrunn to reach the Institute at Peschelanger (see red circle
in the maps below)
